I miss Taya.

So even though I probably shouldn’t,  I’m posting one of the most heartbreaking passages from the book.  It is only a five minute reading but there is so much in it that, after reading it tonight, my heart was heavy.  I felt compelled to share and so, even though there’s already quite a few  “excerpts” of the book, I am adding this one as well.

 

Synopsis:

My name is Taya and I’m fifteen. If you’re reading this, it means you’ve found me. I’ve tried to keep it as clean as I can. I put down towels for the mess. If I could do this so no one would ever know what happened, I would. But Mom needs to know I haven’t run away, she needs to know what happened. Staying alive takes too much courage. You have to get up, hoping for a good day when, in your heart of hearts, you know it’s just going to be another day like all the rest. I’m just not that brave. Being bullied during the daytime and messed with at night, it just hurts too much. And with Dad coming home, this is the only way for me to be free. I hope you’ll understand, I hope you’ll forgive me.
