I’ve never been one to fight. Confrontation scares me. I have vivid and scary memories that make me freeze in the face of anger. That’s why characters like Sierra inspire me. This is an excerpt from her point-of-view, and I love how she draws strength from something she loves. I did the same, except my “sport” was writing. Whenever I didn’t think I could do anything more, I’d retreat to an imaginary world in which I could say whatever I wanted to say, where what I wanted mattered.
