In this section, Brielle says:  “Broken promises:  our relationship came down to broken promises.  He didn’t wait;  he thought I was a tease and, whether he admitted it or not, he became impatient. I broke a promise too.  I betrayed his trust.”  In this same section, Eden talks about how her family is a family of pretenders.  She says her father is “a red giant” because red giants are basically saying “look at me!  look at me!”  even though they “know they don’t have anything left to fuse and are dying.”  Is making promises a form of pretending?  What are some of the ways broken promises have impacted your life?
