Chapter Chats , the online book club I lead, has finished reading our most recent selection, The Character. And we have started voting for the next selection – either an as of yet unpublished book, Echoes of a Wild Girl’s Drum or Dance For Me. Both of these stories are dear to me and both are rich with discussion possibilities.

I have always been very proud of DANCE FOR ME. It was hard to write, and the research for it included speaking with actual survivors of human trafficking. The fact that this story continues, yeas later, to sell the best of any of the books and was turned into an audiobook, speaks to how much it resonates with others. It’s a heartbreaking tale of survival and of what it means to choose life no matter what.

Echoes is one of my most ambitious stories because it’s soaked in the history and culture of a place I knew absolutely nothing about prior to the idea. It’s a story that asks questions about defiance: is defiance leadership or a dangerous disruption of safety? Can true love really conquer everything and what does it mean to define your own life?

You can read excerpts through their pages for both. But I thought I’d also share the below with you. If you’d like to join us on reading one of these stories, vote here before Monday, April 13!

One of my favorite excerpts from DANCE FOR ME is here.

A trailer for the new story, ECHOES OF A WILD GIRL’S DRUM, is below…
