An Invite from Chapter Chats Book Club
One of the main reasons I joined WordPress sixteen years ago was because I wanted a place to connect with others who loved to read and talk about stories. I’ve always dreamed of being in a book club for that reason–the idea of others caring as much as I did about fictional characters – whether they be ones I invented or not – was just about the most fun thing I could imagine.
And now, there’s Chapter Chats, the online book club where we read through some of the books I have. It’s virtual, and it’s free, and it’s personal. Once a week, every Friday, a letter is shared. There’s a prompt regarding the reading selection for the week, there’s usually a personal or behind-the-scenes story shared, and then there’s the interactive aspect: games (like this Escape Game), virtual meet-n-greets, and more.
Whisperroot comes out on October 1, 2025. It’s a story about the cost of silence, complicity, memory and survival. Told in split narratives including the Forest and the town of Myreska itself, the story is rich with amazing discussion prompts and, set in a tiny 1898 Polish town, it lends itself to some savory recipes and folklore. Featured in the NY Book Review and USA News, and featuring original artwork from the girls in captivity, I frankly cannot wait for this book club!
THE BEST PART IS THAT JOINING IS FREE AND GETS YOU A FREE COPY OF THE BOOK
Can’t wait to meet you and see what you think of the hushwood, the girls, and whisperroots.
There are several video trailers here and excerpts here.
